Born in Brooklyn on October 21, 1917, Kolman was an outstanding tackle at Temple before joining the Chicago Bears in 1940, with whom he played in three straight world championship tilts. Entering the Navy after the 1942 campaign, Ed returned to the Bruins in 1946. He was out the entire 1948 campaign with a leg injury, then played his final NFL season with the Giants in 1949."
