1963 Profiles: Rosey Grier and Dick Modzelewski

ROSEY GRIER
Defensive Tackle
No. 76
Penn State
"That soft-crooning guitar player named Roosevelt Grier, a new discovery on records and TV, is the same Roosevelt Grier who throws around 290 or so pounds every autumn Sunday for the Giants. When he's in the mood for football, he's an unstoppable defensive tackle. His charge is savage.
Rosey lives in Linden, New Jersey. An All-East tackle and a 58-foot shot-putter at Penn State, he's in his eighth year as a Giant."

-Don Schiffer, Pro Football 1963

"When this big man races at a runner, you can be sure he means business. A vital part of the last two Giant Championship drives, Rosey is fast and agile for a man his size.
He has cut several recordings as a guitar player and singer."

-1963 Topps No. 56

DICK MODZELEWSKI
Defensive Tackle
No. 77
Maryland
Dick was once again a vital cog in the feared Giant defense as the 1962 Giants repeated as Eastern champs. He's been there in every game since his arrival in 1956, through that year's NFL championship as well as the Eastern title seasons of 1958 and 1959.
The consensus All-American and Outland Trophy winner from Maryland has been known for his great physical strength.
