1963 Profile: Joe Walton

Tight End
No. 80
Pittsburgh
"As a kid, Joe used to stand on the sidelines in Washington catching Sammy Baugh's warmup tosses while his father, the late Frank (Tiger) Walton, played in the Redskin line.
Joe went on to become an All-American end at Pittsburgh, played four years for the Skins and was traded to the Giants in '61. They felt he had a knack for the big play. He does - e.g. nine touchdown passes last fall. At 200, Joe doesn't measure up physically to a tight end - except in performance."
